Basketball

The Y provides Pick up Basketball everyday from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.! Open Gym times are available every day for members to practice their shots or play a game with their friends. Check out the 4v4 rec leagues we offer as well!

Volleyball

Grab some friends and join the Y’s Volleyball League! These co-ed leagues play on Thursday nights at the Downtown YMCA at 302 W 1st St. This league is open to pre-formed teams only and this is a 15 week self-officiated league.

Pickleball

An all-ages sport, pickleball combines tennis, badminton, and ping-pong into an exciting, low-impact activity the whole family can enjoy! Nets, paddles, and balls are provided at the Membership Service Desk Y at the Cook County YMCA facility.

Ultimate Frisbee

Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football.

The Y Softball League is open to anyone wishing to play softball, have fun, and make new friends. Both the competitive and recreational leagues are family friendly softball leagues intended to foster healthy living and community development while having fun playing America's favorite pastime.

Cycle Camp

Build your speed, power, and endurance during the indoor season with Cycle Camp at the Y. Jen Martinsen is back managing the crew in 2019 with IMPROVED TESTING, NEW WORKOUTS, and an INCREASED OVERALL EXPERIENCE for all involved.

Taekwondo

Classes open to all ages will teach blocking, kicking, and punching techniques emphasizing the traditional philosophy and discipline of Taekwondo. Taekwondo is a great way to spend time with your family, as all classes are family oriented! Individuals are also welcome.

Looking to try something new? Fencing is an all ages sport that takes a great deal of skill, discipline, and determination to outcompete your opponent using both brain and brawn. Our experienced instructors, Karl and Derek, are excited to help others learn the footwork, foil handling, and rewards this Olympic sport has to offer.

Racquetball and Handball

The Downtown Y facility features two racquetball/handball courts. Courts can be reserved up to two days in advance by stopping by our Member Service Desk or calling 218-722-4745 ext. 100. Rackets and balls are available to borrow. They are located outside of the courts. All ages welcome.
