Buildings and Grounds
Building Maintenance (Open)
Position Summary: This internship is intended to give students a practical, hands-on experience in the wide world of Building Services. The intern will learn from and assist our Maintenance Team with everything from landscaping and painting to building maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn life-long skills like how to use tools, grounds work and maintaining equipment.

Youth Related Internships
Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Supports the developmental and functional needs of children across infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. This position collaborates with educators and families to implement strategies that enhance sensory processing, motor development, self-regulation, and independence. The role also contributes to creating inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning environments that promote meaningful participation for all children. Program Administration (Open)
Provides administrative and program support for Out-of-School Time programs, ensuring compliance with state requirements, assisting with grants and fundraising, supporting program improvement efforts, promoting equity and diversity, and handling documentation, logistics, and general office tasks. Nature Based Child Care (Open)
Position Summary: This internship is intended to give students a practical, hands-on experience in early childhood development as well as nature-based education planning and implementation. The intern will assist our teachers and program directors with leading activities, preparing materials and supervising preschool aged children with nature-based learning. Outdoor Education (Open Summer 2026)
Position Summary: The YMCA’s Outdoor Education Internship provides the chance to gain hands-on teaching experience in a school & outdoor setting. Interns will spend their time working closely with our Youth Specialist staff to deliver outdoor education lessons within our summer Key Zone program. This includes curriculum development, preparation of materials, outdoor ed instruction for youth. Marketing and Communication for the Y (Open)
Supports the YMCA’s marketing initiatives through social media management, community outreach, and content creation. This role assists in developing and distributing promotional materials, coordinating events, and representing the YMCA at community functions. Health Education and Exercise Science
Diabetes Prevention Program Assistant (Not Available)
Position Summary: Intern will assist in implementing a National Diabetes Prevention Program. This is a group based program consisting of weekly sessions led by a trained Lifestyle Coach who facilitates a small group of people with similar goals. Discussion topics include healthy eating, increasing physical activity, reducing stress and how behavior changes can benefit health. This program is designed for people who are at high risk for type 2 diabetes and want to lower their risk.
Risk Management (Not Available)
Position Summary: To assist the Risk & Safety Manager in developing policies, procedures and tools for the branches of the Duluth Area Family YMCA and its partners, based on current best practices in relevant industries. Assess and improve the Y’s current level of safety by identifying risks through evaluation tools. In addition, the intern will expand the safety and educational programming the Y provides to the community.

Delegation Assistant for Youth in Government (Fall Internship)
Position Summary: The YIG Delegation Assistant will work with students in grades 8-12 as they prepare to represent Duluth at the statewide Model Assembly.
