WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY BIKE FLEET?
The bike fleet was awarded to the YMCA in 2015 as a grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation as part of a Safe Routes to School grant to promote the use of bicycles as transportation and to be a resource for bike education.
The bike fleet is for use by schools or youth-serving organizations in our community. Teachers and organizations that are using the bike fleet to teach the Walk! Bike! Fun! Curriculum will have priority use of the fleet during the school year. During the summer, the fleet will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to organizations serving under-served populations. There are no time maximums for use of the fleet. For example, you may use it for a multi-week program, though it may need to be returned each week for use by other groups.
