When you give a legacy gift to the Duluth Area Family YMCA, you help us make a difference. The YMCA focuses on strengthening the foundations of community by providing programs and services that nurture the potential of youth, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. Since 1892, the Duluth Area Family YMCA has served the community through a variety of programs and services that emerge and change with societal needs. In 1976, the YMCA Heritage Foundation Endowment Fund was formed by men and women dedicated to assuring that these programs are available for future generations.

THE POWER OF AN ENDOWED GIFT ON THE DULUTH AREA FAMILY YMCA
An endowment gift to The Duluth Area Family YMCA today provides a brighter picture for our future. When you make a donation to our endowment, you give a gift with both immediate and long-term benefits. Your donation to the Y endowment is invested and a portion of the annual income from the investment is used to address the immediate needs of the Duluth Area Family YMCA. The remaining funds are reinvested to ensure indefinite support. The Heritage Foundation Board of Trustees stewards the Heritage Endowment Fund.
Gifts and commitments to the YMCA Endowment Fund may be directed to benefit the overall work of the YMCA or can be designated to support a particular community branch or program. In addition to supporting the vital work of the Duluth Area Family YMCA in a lasting, meaningful way, planned giving enables donors to:
- Leave a lasting legacy
- Reduce estate taxes
- Provide a life income stream
- Give a larger gift than otherwise possible
- Receive a current income tax deduction
- Reduce or avoid capital gains tax
- Support the vital work of the Duluth Area Family YMCA in a lasting, meaningful way
There are a variety of ways to give a gift to the Duluth Area Family YMCA Heritage Endowment Fund, including:
- Outright Gifts: Contributions of cash, land, or securities to the YMCA endowment fund.
- Life Insurance: Donor names the YMCA as owner, primary or contingent beneficiary of a new or existing insurance policy.
- Will Bequest: Donor’s will includes a designation to the YMCA for a specified amount or a percentage of the donor’s estate.
- Charitable Trust: Creating one of the several kinds of charitable trusts, annuity trusts, pooled income funds, or life estate gifts to benefit the YMCA Endowment fund.

The Heritage Club is a special group of people who believe in the mission of the Duluth Area Family YMCA and want to ensure that valuable, life-changing programs and services will be continued for future generations. Becoming a member of the Heritage Club requires a commitment which now, or in the future, will add to the YMCA’s Heritage Foundation Endowment fund.
Your legacy, made through planned giving, which keeps our YMCA facility and programs strong and affordable, for everyone well into the future.
It is not the gift itself but the commitment it represents that is most important. A meaningful gift as determined by the donor is required to qualify for lifetime membership in the Heritage Club. Each member of the Club that includes the YMCA in his or her estate plan is building long-range financial stability for the Y and enabling our Association to meet its mission now and in the future.

The Y takes seriously the trust our donors place in us. Y professionals will work with you and/or your advisors to create a giving opportunity that speaks to your unique desires.
