Have you ever wanted to try rock climbing? Come to the YMCA and learn how! Whether you are looking to try out the sport for the first time or are a seasoned climber, our belay certified rock wall staff will help you reach the top! Please Note: All members and guests must sign an additional climbing wall waiver prior to using the wall; climbers 5-17 will need to have a parent or legal guardian sign on their behalf.
Our gymnastics classes are offered at the Woodland Community Center (3211 Allendale Ave). The Y at Woodland (WCC) features a spring floor, uneven bars, beams, vault table, and tumble track for gymnastics. We have experienced coaches and instructors for all of our gymnastics classes and team.
This is a year-round program for individuals interested in developing quality gymnastics skills while instilling the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our competitive program is governed by the USA Gymnastics Xcel Program.
The Miracle League is a specifically designed baseball league for children with physical and/or mental disabilities. The league removes barriers that keep children with disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America's favorite pastime. Games are held Saturday mornings at the Harrison Community Center in Lincoln Park.
Whether you're child is just starting out or looking to improve their skills, Y Lacrosse has something for everyone! Our lacrosse program is designed to introduce kids to the sport of lacrosse and build the skills necessary in a supportive, fun, and relaxed environment.
An all-ages sport, pickleball combines tennis, badminton, and ping-pong into an exciting, low-impact activity the whole family can enjoy! Nets, paddles, and balls are provided at the Membership Service Desk Y at the Cook County YMCA facility.
Classes open to all ages will teach blocking, kicking, and punching techniques emphasizing the traditional philosophy and discipline of Taekwondo. Taekwondo is a great way to spend time with your family, as all classes are family oriented! Individuals are also welcome.
Looking to try something new? Fencing is an all ages sport that takes a great deal of skill, discipline, and determination to outcompete your opponent using both brain and brawn. Our experienced instructors, Kris and Derek, are excited to help others learn the footwork, foil handling, and rewards this Olympic sport has to offer.
Racquetball and Handball
The Downtown Y facility features two racquetball/handball courts. Courts can be reserved up to two days in advance by stopping by our Member Service Desk or calling 218-722-4745 ext. 100. Rackets and balls are available to borrow. They are located outside of the courts. All ages welcome.
