The focus of the Y gymnastics program is to create a fun environment for gaining balance, coordination, and flexibility while introducing children to the basic elements of the sport. We use beam, bars, floor, and tumble track exercises to teach basic gymnastic positions and tumbling skills.



Youth Gymnastics Club

This recreational beginner gymnastics program builds a foundation of gymnastics skills. It’s for children with little to no gymnastics experience. Gymnasts will work on floor skills like body positions, jumps, forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands/headstands, bridges, and standing back bends. Bar skills will include front support, tuck/pike hangs, back hip circles, and beginner giants. Some beam skills will include mounts, dismounts, balance, coordination, comfort, front kicks, and various walks.

As kids advance, floor skills will include forward/backward rolls in all positions, 1 arm cartwheels, round offs, handstands, handstands to bridge, back bends, and back walkovers. Bar skills include pullovers, glides, shimmy, casting, tap swings, and front/back hip swings. Beam skills include jumps, arabesque, turns, handstand, cartwheel, and releve holds/walks. Vault skills include runs with hits, arm circles, and run with arm placement. 

This club is for those that have basic skills and want to become more involved in gymnastics.

  • November 1-February 21 (no class on 11/22, 12/20, or 1/3)
