RUN, MICHAEL, RUN!

On June 28, 2025, Michael Koppy will attempt to become the oldest person to ever complete the Western States 100-mile Endurance Run. Lauded as the most prestigious ultra-marathon in North America, this is no small feat. Support Michael as he traverses the California Sierra Nevada foothills to raise awareness for the programs and communities supported by the Duluth Area Family YMCA.

A LEGACY OF ENDURANCE AND PURPOSE

Michael has earned his guaranteed entry into the prestigious Western States 100 after nine consecutive years of qualifying and applying without success. In 2024, he completed the Cocodona 250-mile ultra setting a course record for his age group, solidifying his spot for the 2025 race.

But it's not just about running.

Michael's life story—a retired educator, polio survivor, and former foster youth drives his passion to give back. Through his run, he hopes to raise awareness for the Duluth YMCA's youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility programs—programs that help kids and families build resilience, connection, and confidence.

WHY

The Duluth Area Family YMCA holds a special place in Michael's heart. He believes deeply in the Y's mission to strengthen communities. Every dollar raised supports programs that empower local families and help individuals of all ages lead healthier, more connected lives.

Join Michael Koppy in support of the Y through a gift to the Duluth Area Family YMCA or your local YMCA.
