Status of High Ropes Course for Camp Miller

I would like to start by saying, "Thank You" which doesn't quite articulate well enough the gratitude felt by us at Camp Miller for your daily efforts this month!  We were very close to taking home the gold and building a high ropes course.  Number #11!  Being this was a nation-wide grant and many of the grants running against us were large government funded non-profits, we had an amazing run!  A small summer camp in Northern Minnesota has supporters who kept us in the running the whole time!  Thanks again!

It's not over yet!  As you may have noticed, we have been automatically entered into the next month of submissions.  Currently we are in Third Place for the $50K.  We will not, however, continue to send out email or facebook notices to vote.  If you wish to vote on your own and spread the word on your own, we would of course, be delighted to give it another shot!  Thank you so much for any continued support you offer this amazing summer camp! www.refresheverything.com/YMCACampMiller

A couple things going on here at Camp Miller that we'd like to share:

  • We are looking for summer staff.  If you know of anyone who would be great working with children in an outdoor setting, applications for staff are available at the Duluth  YMCA website.  www.duluthymca.org/employment
  • Camp Miller has an endowment fund that supports children from economically challenged families to be able to attend camp at just a small fraction of the cost.  And in some cases, no cost at all!  If you've been feeling the love and would like to mail in a donation to Camp Miller for a child to attend camp, we always gratefully accept charitable donations, which are tax write offs for the donor.   Mail to the Duluth YMCA, attention Camp Miller:  302 W. 1st Street, Duluth, MN  55802
  • We are beginning a fund for a high ropes course in the future.  The benefits of having a high ropes course for campers and groups to use are endless and so we believe it is important to start fundraising for it right now.  If you would like to donate to our fund, we could see a high ropes course up in as few as a couple of summers.  Do you have any contacts with a big business or company who gives annually to non-profits?  Spread the word to them as I know there are always people out there who want to help with projects like this one!  Mail to the Duluth YMCA, attention Camp Miller:  302 W. 1st Street, Duluth, MN  55802

Thank you again for your time and energy in helping us receive the Pepsi Grant!  Don't forget you can still vote if you want to, but we simply won't be pressuring you anymore... We all know how annoying that can be!  :)

Consider also voting for Living Waters Ranch under the $25K category.  They are currently in 17th place and their mission and goal is similar to Camp Miller's!
