You will need to create an account to sign up for classes, similar to how you sign up for an account when completing any online transaction with any other company.

When you get to the membership page, you can select "community member" as your membership type. This membership type will not have any additional fees and will NOT sign you up as a member to the YMCA - only as a program participant.

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.

Blended Learning Courses include an online portion features simulation learning - an interactive experience where participants respond to real-world emergencies in a variety of settings.

Pre-registration is required. Cancellations must be made a minimum of 1 week in advance. Class fee is $90.

Register for one date. You will receive an email link one week in advance with your required online class material. Complete the online material BEFORE attending the in-person skill session and receive a 2 year certification upon successful participation in the skill session.

The purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers with First Aid course is to train professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. 

Blended Learning Courses include and online portion that features simulation learning - an interactive experience where participants respond to real-work emergencies in a variety of settings. 

Pre-registration is required. Cancellations must be made a minimum of 1 week in advance. Class fee is $100.

This class is equivalent to BLS and First Aid, but not all employers and educational programs will accept this certification instead of BLS. Check with your employer or education program for compatibility.

The American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize and care for patients who are experiencing respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, airway obstruction or opioid overdose. When a patient experiences a life-threatening emergency, healthcare providers need to act swiftly and promptly. The course emphasizes providing high-quality care and integrating psychomotor skills with critical thinking and problem solving to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

  • Classes by request. Regularly scheduled equivalent classes under CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid.

At this time, we do not have instructors who are certified to teach this class. If you are interested in teaching this class, please reach out to cpodtburg@duluthymca.org.

The Child and Baby-Sitting Safety (CABS) course, offered through the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), provides training in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic care-giving skills, and responding properly to ill or injured children and infants. Must be 11 years of age to participate. Participants should bring a lunch to class. Manual and other course materials are included.

Pre-registration is required. Cancellations must be made a minimum of 2 business days in advance. Class fee is $65.

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

CPR and First Aid classes have a high standard of healthy practices for cleanliness to keep participants safe. Participants may request having their own practice equipment during classes at any time, and for any reason.
