True North AmeriCorps (TNAC) is a program of the Duluth Area Family YMCA dedicated to engaging citizens in solving community problems related to education and youth development. Program Goals Include: 

► Increase the capacity of Partner Sites to meet the needs of youth.

► Increase youth participants’ social and emotional learning skills through site-based enrichment programming, individualized support, and targeted skill building.

► Increase the number of significant, caring adults in participants’ lives through member placement and volunteer mobilization.

Social emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which people understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
