Welcome to Quilting by the Lake 2019

This year we are going totally tubular.  The camp quilt pattern this year is Timber; I chose Christmas prints for my version. The blocks are made by first sewing strip sets, sewing them into tubes, and then cutting triangles that magically turn into squares. Several quilt patterns use similar techniques. You can use pre-cut 2.5 inch strips or cut your own.

The camp block will use this technique. Bring 4 dark and 2 cream/white strips – 2.5 inches. This will be enough to make several blocks; each block entered will give you a chance to win them. Fun way to learn the technique and maybe get enough blocks for an entire quilt.

Pillowcases are fun and easy to make – totally tubular. Check out this easy method. I am hoping you will want to make several to donate to Safe Haven Women’s shelter.  I will have extra fabrics along that can be used to make some.

Other short demonstrations will be offered depending on interest including a two-fabric bargello. Fun way to make a faux bargello with a lot less work.

Beginners are more than welcome; I can offer a beginning class that starts with the basics of fabric choices, rotary cutting basics, piecing and assembly. Fun way to dip your toes in.

As always, no extra charge for classes but you will need to provide your own fabric and participation is optional. Take time to enjoy the great outdoors; many hiking trails surround the camp. Saturday evening is show and tell along with door prize drawings; door prize donations are welcome. We like everyone to share their favorite quilting trick/tip/tool. We have a free table if you have anything you want to re-home (quilting related).

Hope to see you there!
