QUILTING BY THE LAKE

October 13-17 2021

REGISTER FOR QUILT CAMP

Time to get away and relax with fellow quilters in a beautiful woodland setting. Start planning your projects and mark your calendars for this fantastic event!

The camp quilt will utilize the Strip Tube Triangle ruler that we have used the past few years. There are so many quilt patters that can be made using this ruler and strip sets! Learn the tricks for confidently sewing blocks cut on the bias.

We will have several short demonstrations throughout the week including a stash buster quilt that will help perfect your border sewing skills and is a great beginner project if you are a newbie.

Quilt Retreat Project

This quilt pattern is deceptively easy to make, Simplicity II from Cozy Quiltz. Dig through your bin of 2 ½’’ strips to make light and dark pairs. The above quilt used 10 pairs to yield 20 blocks that finish at 8’’. The pattern used the Strip Tube Ruler from Cozy Quiltz. The Companion Angle Ruler works great as well!

Demonstrations this year will include how to use the Strip Tube ruler including a variation on the above quilt pattern. Sandy will also show some tricks and shortcuts using some of the other common rulers most quilters have.

Fabric requirements will be emailed out to participants prior to the event. The sample quilt is 42 x 50 (4 blocks/row, 5 rows = 20 blocks) plus borders. A jelly roll will yield at least 20 strip sets, or 40 blocks (Twin size).

Pressing and cutting stations will be set up. Small irons at your sewing area are allowed. Meals are included and we encourage you to bring a snack to share.

Saturday night show and tell includes door prize drawings and other fun.

A packing list will be sent out prior to the event, but please plan to bring your general sewing supplies (don’t forget the power cord for your machine!) A cushion for your chair or even your own sewing chair from home is nice to have.

Please contact Sandy Carlson if you have any questions (skcarlson@charter.net).
